07:10 AM EST, 12/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) has not yet resumed manufacturing 737 MAX aircraft following a union strike, but is planning to restart production later this month, Reuters reported late Thursday, citing the head of the Federal Aviation Administration Mike Whitaker as saying in an interview.
Whitaker met with Boeing ( BA ) Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg this week at the plane maker's Renton, Washington plant and plans another meeting in January, the report added.
"The thing that I was most struck by was we're four weeks post-strike and they're still not producing airplanes, because they're focused on their workforce, the training, making sure they have the supply chain sorted out," Whitaker told Reuters.
The FAA head declined to say when he would lift Boeing's ( BA ) production capacity limit, but said he would be surprised if it was less than multiple months before they are close to the current maximum of 38 planes per month, the report said.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
