06:39 AM EDT, 07/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) will face a US court hearing on Aug. 28 to seek approval for a deal with the Justice Department that would allow the planemaker to avoid prosecution over the deadly 737 MAX crashes that killed 346 people, Reuters reported Friday, quoting a US judge.
Under the agreement, Boeing ( BA ) will pay $1.1 billion, including $444.5 million to a crash victims fund and more than $455 million to enhance compliance, safety, and quality programs, the report added.
The deal would also relieve Boeing ( BA ) from independent monitoring for three years, it said, adding that Boeing ( BA ) had previously agreed to plead guilty to a criminal fraud charge for misleading US regulators about the 737 MAX's flight control system, but the current agreement seeks dismissal of that charge.
