12:50 PM EDT, 05/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing's ( BA ) attempt to avoid a criminal charge related to two fatal crashes of its 737 Max jets through a potential non-prosecution agreement faces opposition from family members of the victims, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing a letter from an attorney for the families to the Justice Department.
The proposed deal is "a remarkably bad and unprecedented resolution" of the legal dispute and would be a "miscarriage of justice," the letter said, according to the report.
The Justice Department is evaluating options, including a non-prosecution agreement, criminal conspiracy charges or a plea deal, the report said.
A criminal trial is set to begin on June 23 in Texas, Bloomberg reported.
Boeing ( BA ) and the Justice Department didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
