Market Chatter: Boeing's Engineering Union Starts Probe on Claims of Work Being Sent to Non-Union Locations
Jan 23, 2025 6:08 AM

08:43 AM EST, 01/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing's ( BA ) engineering union is looking into claims made by members that the planemaker is sending work to non-union locations in the US and abroad, Reuters reported Thursday.

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace started a formal investigation into the claims last month, when it sought pertinent information from the company, the report said, citing Rich Plunkett, the union's director of strategic development.

In October 2024, the company said it was planning to cut about 10% of its workforce.

Plunkett said union officials began hearing from members that some of the work that was being done by those subject to job cuts was being moved to other locations of the company, according to the report.

The company and the union didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.

BA shares were down 0.2% in recent premarket activity.
