06:41 AM EDT, 08/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Brookfield Asset Management ( BAM ) is seeking debt financing from banks totaling nearly 9.5 billion euros ($10.6 billion) for a potential deal to take private Spanish life-science firm Grifols ( GRFS ) , Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
The Canadian asset management firm has approached banks to refinance Grifols' ( GRFS ) loans and high-yield bonds ahead of the proposed take-private deal, Bloomberg's report said.
Taking the company private would allow Grifols' ( GRFS ) creditors to be repaid at rates above where its bonds are currently trading, Bloomberg reported.
Brookfield and Grifols ( GRFS ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
Grifols ( GRFS ) shares were up more than 12% in Thursday's premarket activity.
