06:41 AM EDT, 06/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Bunge (BG) is close to securing a decision from Chinese antitrust authorities on its $8.2 billion acquisition of Viterra, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
China's approval is reportedly the final major obstacle for the deal, which aims to create a global agricultural commodities giant, though delays remain possible.
The companies are in the final stage of regulatory review and have extended a Friday deadline that would have allowed either party to exit the agreement, Bloomberg reported.
Bunge and Viterra have already received approvals in the EU and Canada, while Argentina's antitrust laws allow the deal to proceed with potential remedies later, the outlet reported.
Bunge and Viterra did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
