09:28 AM EDT, 10/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- French media company Canal+ is evaluating the possibility of buying out the remaining stake in Showmax from Comcast ( CMCSA ) , Bloomberg said Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Canal+ is working with advisers on a potential purchase of Comcast's ( CMCSA ) 30% stake in Showmax, which is the largest streaming platform in Africa, the people reportedly said. MultiChoice Group, an entity controlled by Canal+, owns the rest of Showmax, according to the report.

Discussions are preliminary and there is no guarantee that a deal will go through, the people told Bloomberg.

Comcast ( CMCSA ) and Canal+ did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
