07:43 AM EDT, 10/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Carlyle-backed (CG) Litmus Music has acquired the rights to Randy Newman's song catalog, which features his work for Disney's ( DIS ) Toy Story films, Reuters reported Thursday, citing the companies.
The deal includes royalties from Newman's recorded music and publishing rights to songs from Disney ( DIS ) franchises, according to the report. Litmus also obtained rights to Newman's solo recordings from the 1970s and 1980s, the report added.
The music industry offers uncorrelated income and represents a significant market, Alex Popov, head of private credit at Carlyle, told Reuters.
Carlyle Group ( CG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
