10:34 AM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet with political and business leaders in London, U.K., in the coming days, where it's said he'll look for new economic opportunities for Canadians, CTV National News reports Thursday.
It noted the Prime Minister's Office says Canada is looking to strengthen and diversify its international partnerships to build economic strength and resiliency, in the face of a rapidly changing global landscape.
Carney is scheduled to be in London from Sept. 25 to 28, where he'll meet with a list of heads of state, business leaders and institutional investors. During the visit, he'll meet with the prime ministers of the United Kingdom, Iceland, Australia, Spain and Denmark. Carney is looking to deepen trade ties with these countries and discuss global issues including lasting peace in Europe and the Middle East.
Thursday's report noted the prime minister will also attend the Global Progress Action Summit during the trip. The summit brings together progressive world leaders.
Carney is coming off a trade mission to Mexico last week, where he signed a deal to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. He spent the start of this week attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
