Market Chatter: CFPB Continues Layoffs, Targets Term Employees

07:14 AM EST, 02/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is laying off more employees after firing probationary staff Tuesday, Reuters reported Thursday, citing five sources and termination letters.

Term employees, or staff with contracts of more than one year and up to four years, received same-day termination notices Thursday evening, according to the report.

The federal agency did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
