06:22 PM EDT, 08/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is conducting an internal review into "mention markets" on prediction platforms, CNBC reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

One person said the CFTC alerted Kalshi to the review several weeks ago, around the same time the platform removed sports-related mention markets, according to the report.

It remains unclear whether the inquiry covers only sports-related contracts or all mention markets, the report said, adding that NPR first reported the inquiry late Thursday.

Kalshi and the CFTC did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
