Market Chatter: Chevron May Get Reprieve for Venezuelan Operations as Trump Considers License Extension
Mar 20, 2025 3:42 AM

06:16 AM EDT, 03/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) may potentially get a license extension from the White House to continue pumping oil in Venezuela, the Wall Street Journal reported late Wednesday, citing people familiar with the discussions.

The White House previously ordered the oil and gas company to wind down its Venezuelan operation next month.

In a Wednesday meeting with Chevron ( CVX ) CEO Mike Wirth and other industry players, President Donald Trump reportedly expressed his willingness to revoke that decision.

Wirth is lobbying for an extension of at least 60 days beyond the April deadline, WSJ said.

The White House and Chevron ( CVX ) did not immediately reply to MTNewswires' requests for comment.
