07:55 AM EDT, 05/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) is planning to lay off roughly 800 employees in Texas, effective July 15, as part of a broader global workforce reduction, Reuters reported Thursday, citing a notice to the Texas Workforce Commission.

The job reductions will affect operations in Midland County, which is in the Permian Basin region, where Chevron ( CVX ) maintains a significant presence, according to the news outlet.

The layoffs are part of the company's previously announced strategy to streamline operations and reduce headcount by as much as 20% globally by the end of 2026.

Chevron ( CVX ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
