Market Chatter: Chevron Reserves Fall to Lowest in Decade
Feb 11, 2025 6:23 AM

08:54 AM EST, 02/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron's ( CVX ) oil and gas reserves have fallen to their lowest level in at least a decade, Reuters reported Tuesday.

The amount of oil and gas that Chevron ( CVX ) can potentially extract dropped to 9.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent as of the end of 2024 from 11.1 billion in 2023, Reuters reported, adding that land sales contributed to the decline.

Chevron ( CVX ) is currently in the process of acquiring Hess (HES), which would bolster its reserves; however, Exxon (XOM) is contesting the acquisition in court. Exxon has also had difficulty replacing its reserves in 2022 and 2023, Reuters reported.

Chevron ( CVX ) and Exxon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

On August 3, India imposed import restrictions on a wide range of IT hardware products, including laptops, personal computers (including tablet computers), microcomputers, large or mainframe computers, and certain data processing machines. The primary objective of these measures is to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports from China. Under the revised system, importers will be required to obtain import authorisations. This authorisation can be acquired by furnishing comprehensive information about the value and quantity of their imports.
