06:49 AM EDT, 07/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) , TotalEnergies (TTE), Eni SpA ( E ) and Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) are on the list of companies competing in Libya's first oil and gas licensing round in over a decade, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing the state oil company.
National Oil Corp Chairman Massoud Seliman reportedly said a total of 37 companies have expressed interest in the 22 available blocks.
Winning firms are expected to finalize contracts by the end of 2025, Bloomberg reported.
The interest from major global players marks a turning point for Libya's stalled energy sector, the news outlet quoted Seliman as saying.
Chevron ( CVX ), TotalEnergies, Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) and the National Oil Corp did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment. Eni said they have no comment on the matter.
Shares of TotalEnergies were up over 1.4% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
