06:30 AM EST, 03/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) -operated Leviathan offshore gas field paused production after Israel's Energy Ministry ordered the temporary closure of parts of the country's natural gas reservoirs following US-Israel strikes on Iran over the weekend, Reuters reported Saturday, citing unnamed sources.

Israel's Energy Ministry said the move was taken due to the current security situation and based on security assessments, adding that domestic energy demand would be met through alternative sources and that power stations could switch to alternative fuels if needed, accordint to the report.

Chevron ( CVX ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
