Market Chatter: China Suspends Soybean Import Licenses of 3 US Firms, Pauses US Lumber Imports
Mar 4, 2025 6:27 AM

09:07 AM EST, 03/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- China suspended the soybean import licenses of three US companies and paused imports of US lumber in retaliation of additional US tariffs, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing a statement from China's customs department.

According to the report, China suspended the licenses of CHS, Louis Dreyfus Company Grains Merchandising and Bunge Global's ( BG ) EGT joint venture after authorities reportedly detected ergot and seed coating agent in imported US soybeans.

US lumber imports were halted after China detected small worms, aspergillus, and other pests, Reuters reported.

CHS, Louis Dreyfus, and Bunge did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
