05:50 AM EDT, 04/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- China's market regulator has fined and confiscated a combined 3.6 billion Chinese renminbi ($527.4 million) from Alibaba ( BABA ) , JD.com ( JD ) and other e-commerce platforms over alleged food delivery safety breaches, Reuters reported Friday, citing an official statement.
PDD (PDD), Meituan, and ByteDance's Douyin are also among those fined following probes showing that the companies were unable to take necessary steps to protect consumers while failing to verify online food vendors' licenses and qualifications, the according to the report.
Alibaba ( BABA ), JD.com ( JD ), and PDD didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
