Market Chatter: Citigroup Explores Stablecoin Custody and Instant Payment Services

06:50 AM EDT, 08/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Citigroup ( C ) is considering options to provide stablecoin custody and other services, Reuters reported Friday, quoting Biswarup Chatterjee, global head of partnerships and innovation for Citigroup's ( C ) services division.

Citigroup ( C ) currently offers "tokenized" US dollar payments that use a blockchain network to transfer dollars between accounts in New York, London, and Hong Kong 24 hours a day, according to the report.

Reuters added that the company is developing services that allow clients to send stablecoins between accounts or to convert them to dollars to make instant payments.
