Market Chatter: Coinbase Global in Advanced Talks to Acquire Crypto Exchange Deribit
Mar 21, 2025 12:48 PM

03:25 PM EDT, 03/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Coinbase Global ( COIN ) is in advanced talks to acquire crypto derivatives exchange Deribit, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

The companies notified regulators in Dubai about the talks because Deribit, the world's largest trading platform for Bitcoin and Ether options, holds a license there, the report said.

Deribit may be valued at $4 billion to $5 billion, Bloomberg reported in January.

Coinbase and Deribit declined to comment, Bloomberg said.

The companies didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
