10:39 AM EST, 01/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CSG Systems International ( CSGS ) shares were up Wednesday after Reuters reported that Japan-based technology group NEC is considering making an offer for the company.

NEC is discussing with advisers an option to make an offer and is collaborating with Morgan Stanley ( MS ) investment bankers for a potential deal, the report said citing people familiar with the matter.

Talks between the companies are preliminary, and a deal is not assured as NEC might not bid, and other buyers could appear, the sources said.

Neither CSG Systems ( CSGS ) nor NEC immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
