07:17 AM EST, 01/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Deere & Company ( DE ) may soon face a lawsuit from the US Federal Trade Commission claiming that the tractor giant's agricultural equipment repair practices are not in line with competition laws, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The agency is preparing to file the case as early as this week over concerns that the company has kept key information and diagnostic tools from farmers and independent repair shops, the sources told Bloomberg.
The FTC's commissioners have yet to take a final vote on whether to file a case, according to the report.
The company and the agency did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
Deere said Tuesday, however, that the latest addition to its suite of digital solutions will "further empower" customers and independent repair technicians by enabling them to reprogram Deere-manufactured electronic controllers.
The company said that its customer and independent repair technician pilot is set to launch in the US and Canada by the second half of 2025.
