Market Chatter: Delta Air Lines Says May Be Forced to Halt Foreign-Made Plane Purchases Due to Tariffs
Jun 5, 2025 11:51 AM

02:34 PM EDT, 06/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) said that new tariffs on imported aircraft and parts could force it to stop buying planes made outside the US, Reuters reported Thursday, citing the company's comments to the US Commerce Department.

The airline reportedly told the US Commerce Department it received 47 Airbus jets in 2023 and 2024 from factories in Canada, France, and Germany. Delta warned that without those deliveries, it would have had to cancel flights affecting 10 million passengers, the report said.

The carrier said future tariffs, if imposed, could cause similar disruptions, Reuters reported.

Delta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
