08:33 AM EDT, 10/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) has not faced "any material impact" on its performance from the recent US government shutdown, the Financial Times reported Thursday, citing Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian.
Bastian further said that financial pressure from the shutdown does not seem likely to reach the levels it did during the shutdown in 2018-2019, and that the airline saw minimal cancellations, none of which were related to staffing, with 90% of its daily flights on time during the first week of October, the report said.
"If the shutdown extends beyond next week, pay closer attention, but for now, we're in pretty good shape," Bastian told the Financial Times.
Concerns are growing in the US that air traffic control staffing shortages may compromise aviation safety and lead to flight delays, the report said.
Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Shares were up 7% in recent premarket activity.
