Market Chatter: Delta Air Lines to Offer Employees Free Flights After Navigating Systems Outage

02:59 PM EDT, 08/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) will offer employees two free travel passes to thank them for navigating system failures caused by a CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) update two weeks ago, CNBC reported Friday, citing a note from the airline Chief Executive Ed Bastian.

The update caused a global outage in machines using Microsoft's ( MSFT ) Windows and Delta had more trouble recovering from the crashes than its competitors, reportedly costing the carrier about $500 million.

Delta, Microsoft ( MSFT ), and Crowdstrike ( CRWD ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
