09:44 AM EDT, 07/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) has been removing Pratt & Whitney engines from new Airbus jets in Europe and shipping these back to the US for use in grounded aircraft, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The move allows Delta to deal with a shortage while avoiding aircraft import tariffs, the report said.
Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian confirmed that the airline was shipping a "very small" number of new engines to the US and said it would continue to do so, according to the report.
Delta did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
