06:51 AM EDT, 10/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The US Department of Justice has reportedly expanded its investigation into potential price-fixing involving SAP (SAP) and software reseller Carahsoft Technology, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing new court filings.
This probe, initially focused on whether these companies overcharged the US military and certain government agencies for more than $2 billion in SAP technology products since 2014, now covers around 94 civilian government agencies.
The Justice Department has reportedly issued a legal demand to Carahsoft in July 2024 requesting documents and information related to their dealings with 94 civilian government agencies on SAP products and services.
The investigation is being conducted under the False Claims Act, which allows the government to recover damages up to three times the amount of financial harm caused, plus penalties, according to the report.
SAP did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
