08:30 AM EDT, 08/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) and DirecTV are in contract renewal talks, and the pay-for television provider is looking to ease terms that have required cable and satellite-TV distributors to charge customers for channels even if they don't watch them, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
DirecTV, which is owned by AT&T ( T ) and TPG Capital, is instead looking to offer smaller channel packages in specific genres, like kids programming, movies, news, local stations, sports or Spanish-language TV, according to the news outlet.
Neither Disney ( DIS ) nor DirecTV immediately responded to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
