Market Chatter: Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger Gets Support From George Lucas in Proxy Fight
Mar 19, 2024 6:27 AM

09:11 AM EDT, 03/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Disney ( DIS ) Chief Executive Bob Iger received an endorsement from filmmaker George Lucas amid an ongoing proxy battle launched by activist investor Nelson Peltz, according to a CNBC report on Tuesday.

Lucas is currently the largest individual investor in Disney ( DIS ) after receiving 37.1 million shares of the company for selling his production studio Lucasfilm in 2012, the report said, citing multiple sources.

"I remain a significant shareholder because I have full faith and confidence in the power of Disney ( DIS ) and Bob's track record of driving long-term value. I have voted all of my shares for Disney's ( DIS ) 12 directors and urge other shareholders to do the same," Lucas said in a statement quoted by CNBC.

Disney ( DIS ) and Lucasfilm did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
