Market Chatter: Ecarx in Talks With Volkswagen to Bring Chinese Digital Cockpit Technology to Developed Markets
Mar 10, 2026 8:11 PM

06:36 AM EDT, 03/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- ECARX ( ECX ) is in talks with Volkswagen about integrating its technologies into cars sold in developed markets such as Europe and the US, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the company's CEO Shen Ziyu.

The two companies last week announced a collaboration to manufacture smart cars in Brazil and India, using Ecarx's ( ECX ) Antora 1000 digital cockpit system, which includes proprietary chips, software, and services like voice recognition and navigation.

Volkswagen is looking to extend the partnership to include Skoda-branded cars in Europe and potentially launch vehicles with Ecarx ( ECX ) technologies in the US, the report said.

Ecarx ( ECX ) expects half of its revenue to come from outside of China by 2030, with the company aiming to reduce concerns about geopolitical risks associated with Chinese technology by expanding its R&D teams abroad, the report quoted Shen as saying.

Shares of the company were up 8% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
