03:50 PM EDT, 06/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ecopetrol ( EC ) is talking with potential suppliers of liquefied natural gas as the nation's domestic gas production shrinks, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The state-run company is particularly interested in buying LNG from the US because of close proximity to the largest exporter, the sources said. Columbia is also considering building a second import terminal ahead of a potential shortfall predicted in the next two years.

Ecopetrol ( EC ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
