02:20 PM EDT, 05/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Edwards Lifesciences ( EW ) is facing an antitrust complaint filed by Meril with the European Commission alleging anti-competitive practices related to patents, Reuters reported Monday, citing Meril.

The complaint focuses on Edwards Lifesciences' ( EW ) global unilateral pro-innovation policy which allegedly prevents doctors from engaging with anyone the heart valve maker labels as a patent copier, the report said.

Edwards Lifesciences ( EW ) rejected Meril's allegations and said that the Indian company "substantially copied Edwards' technology, rather than competing fairly and designing their own technologies," according to the report.

Meril, Edwards Lifesciences ( EW ), and the European Commission did not immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
