06:58 AM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly and Company ( LLY ) plans to start selling its weight-loss drug Mounjaro in Hong Kong as early as the end of this year, Bloomberg News reported Monday.

The company told Bloomberg that it secured approval from the Hong Kong government to sell its tirzepatide injections in a device called Kwikpen for long-term weight management and type 2 diabetes.

Mounjaro has already been approved in mainland China for weight loss and diabetes, but it is not clear when it plans to launch the product in the country, the report said.

The company said that trials show Mounjaro can help reduce body weight by as much as 25% when accompanied by diet and exercise, according to the report.

Eli Lilly ( LLY ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
