Market Chatter: Eli Lilly Kicks Off Construction of Plant in Germany to Boost Weight-Loss Drug Production

12:11 PM EDT, 04/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly ( LLY ) broke ground on a plant near Frankfurt to increase the production of its weight-loss drugs, with opening scheduled for 2027, Bloomberg News reported Monday.

The US drug manufacturer intends to invest 2.3 billion euros ($2.5 billion) in the facility, with construction slated to start over the summer, the publication reported.

The plant will produce both the medication and the devices used to inject Zepbound, according to the report.

Lilly didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
