Market Chatter: Eli Lilly's Japanese Unit to Invest $126 Million to Bolster Capacity at Kobe Facility

11:36 AM EDT, 03/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly's ( LLY ) Japanese subsidiary is expected to invest 20 billion yen ($126 million) at its factory in Kobe to bolster capacity for the company's existing drugs and support production of new diabetes and obesity medicines, Nikkei Asia said Thursday.

The investment will also entail the introduction of automated equipment at the Kobe facility, and is expected to allow Eli Lilly ( LLY ) to meet demand in Japan through 2029, including for new drugs, according to the new outlet.

Eli Lilly ( LLY ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
