Market Chatter: Eli Lilly's Weight-Loss Drug Faces Shortage in US
Mar 28, 2024 10:34 AM

01:10 PM EDT, 03/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly's ( LLY ) weight loss drug Zepbound is facing a shortage across the US, Bloomberg News said Thursday, citing Rite Aid and Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Amazon Pharmacy.

Eli Lilly ( LLY ) has said that the shot is available for pharmacies to order from their wholesalers, however, multiple pharmacies have said that some or all doses of the drug were on backorder, the report added.

Four doses of Zepbound are listed as unavailable on Amazon Pharmacy. There is a "nationwide shortage" of weight loss drugs, including Zepbound, an Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson was quoted as saying.

The demand for Zepbound has resulted in "some sporadic supply constraints," Rite Aid told Bloomberg.

Eli Lilly ( LLY ), Amazon ( AMZN ), and Rite Aid didn't immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
