11:50 AM EDT, 10/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Dubai's Emirates airlines is increasing its number of Boeing ( BA ) 777F cargo planes as it prepares for a significant growth in cargo traffic, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing industry sources.
The order for additional freighters comes amid ongoing tensions between Emirates and Boeing ( BA ) over separate delays but was reportedly initiated before Boeing's ( BA ) announcement on Friday that the 777X jetliner series would be delayed until 2026, according to the news outlet.
In September, Boeing ( BA ) disclosed that it had received orders from unidentified clients for a fleet of 11 777F cargo planes, but did not provide further details. A portion of these orders was a new commitment for the 777F from Emirates, Reuters reported, citing sources.
Emirates and Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
Boeing ( BA ) shares were up nearly 1% in recent trading.
