07:40 AM EDT, 07/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The European Union is readying retaliatory tariffs of 30% on up to 100 billion euros ($117 billion) of US goods if no trade deal is reached and President Trump a imposes similar levy on EU exports after Aug. 1, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing a European Commission spokesperson.
The EU's response would be to combine an already approved list of tariffs on 21 billion euros of US goods with a previously proposed list of 72 billion euros into one package, the report said.
The products include Boeing aircraft, US-made cars, and bourbon whiskey, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
Germany is also backing the use of the EU's anti-coercion instrument in a no-deal scenario, potentially allowing for broader actions such as taxing US tech firms and restricting US market access, according to the report.
