Market Chatter: EU Seek Feedback on Proposals by Google to Promote Fair Competition
Sep 6, 2024 12:36 PM

04:09 PM EDT, 09/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The European Union antitrust regulators will ask for commentary on proposals by Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) to adhere to rules focusing on promoting fair competition, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing people with direct knowledge of the matter.

The feedback could determine whether Google ( GOOG ) will face formal charges, according to the report.

Google ( GOOG ) proposed to add a separate box for rivals under its own product listing ads in the search results to address claims from comparison shopping sites, the people reportedly said.

Additionally, Google ( GOOG ) offered to create two boxes showing intermediaries and direct suppliers side-by-side for airlines, hotels and retailers, the people added.

Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
