Market Chatter: FCC Starts Probe Into Comcast's Relationships With Local TV Affiliates

11:56 AM EDT, 07/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Federal Communications Commission is opening an investigation into Comcast's ( CMCSA ) relationships with its local TV affiliates, Reuters reported Wednesday.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr said in a letter to Comcast ( CMCSA ) Chief Executive Brian Roberts that he was investigating after reports that NBC and other networks are seeking "to extract onerous financial and operational concessions from local broadcast TV stations," Reuters reported.

Comcast ( CMCSA ) is the parent company of NBC.

Reuters said that Comcast ( CMCSA ) confirmed it had received the inquiry.

Comcast ( CMCSA ) and the FCC didn't immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
