12:47 PM EDT, 09/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US District Judge Steven Merryday in Florida dismissed US President Donald Trump's defamation lawsuit against The New York Times ( NYT ) days after it was filed, Bloomberg reported Friday.

Merryday found that lawyers breached court rules requiring simple, direct claims, citing "repetitive" and "florid" allegations in the lawsuit. An edited version of the lawsuit can be refiled within the next month, according to the report.

The New York Times ( NYT ) and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
