10:11 AM EDT, 07/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) said its planned electric vehicle battery plant in Marshall, Michigan, is expected to meet the requirements for a US federal production tax credit, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing the automaker.
The $3 billion facility, first announced in early 2023, is scheduled to start making battery cells in 2026 using technology licensed from China's CATL, according to the report.
The eligibility for tax incentives had been in question due to legislative proposals to block credits for facilities tied to certain Chinese companies or license deals, Reuters said.
Ford did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
