01:56 PM EDT, 03/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) is reducing the hourly workforce at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, a company spokesperson told the Detroit Free Press.
The automaker will retain one-third of the 2,100 workers after April 1 at the plant that builds the F-150 Lightning electric vehicles, Ford spokesperson Jessica Enoch told the publication Wednesday.
Ford will transfer 700 workers to the assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan, that builds the Bronco and Ranger vehicles. The remaining 700 workers will either be reassigned to southeast Michigan, or will take the pre-negotiated $50,000 retirement package.
Ford did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
