Market Chatter: Ford Temporarily Cuts Production of 5 Models After Fire at Supplier's Plant
Oct 14, 2025 5:49 AM

08:16 AM EDT, 10/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ford (F) is temporarily cutting production of at least five models following last month's fire at the facility of aluminum supplier Novelis, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

A United Auto Workers official told union members that Ford is pausing production this week of its three-row SUVs, including Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, at the Kentucky Truck Plant due to aluminum supply challenges, the report said.

The SUV production pause is expected to last one week, the WSJ said, citing a memo Ford sent to workers. The memo did not specify the reason for the pause.

Novelis, which supplies about 40% of the aluminum sheet used by the US auto sector, is not expected to resume production of automotive-grade aluminum sheet until March or April next year, according to the report.

Ford did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
