03:26 PM EDT, 10/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- American Airlines Group ( AAL ) and Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) are among airlines that are set to be awarded an additional long-distance flight at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) and Alaska Air Group ( ALK ) are also poised for one round-trip flight each from the US Transportation Department, the report said.

The US agency declined to comment, American had no immediate comment and Southwest ( LUV ) and Alaska Air ( ALK ) didn't immediately respond to requests for comment, Bloomberg said.

JetBlue Airways ( JBLU ) , Frontier Group Holdings ( ULCC ) , Spirit Airlines ( SAVE ) and United Airlines Holdings ( UAL ) also applied for the last of five round trips, the report said.

American, Delta, Southwest ( LUV ), Alaska Air ( ALK ) and the Department of Transportation didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
