02:37 PM EST, 01/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Fox (FOX, FOXA) has sold at least 10 of the commercials that would appear during the Super Bowl LIX telecast on Feb. 9 at a higher price, Variety reported Wednesday.
The company charged more than $8 million for 30 seconds of Super Bowl ad time -- reportedly a new high.
Fox was already out of ad inventory, but the recent California wildfires prompted some sponsors to negotiate a release from their deals. The company was then able to re-sell the ad time to other sponsors at a higher price that reportedly contributed to the over $8 million revenue for the slot.
The air time was initially selling for $7 million for 30 seconds of ads, the report said.
Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
