Market Chatter: Frontier, Spirit Airlines Probed by US Senators Over Seat Fee Practices
Jan 23, 2025 5:46 AM

08:27 AM EST, 01/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Frontier Airlines (ULCC) and Spirit Airlines are being asked by three US senators to clarify if they are using passengers' personal data to charge different fees, Reuters reported Wednesday

Senators Maggie Hassan, Josh Hawley and Richard Blumenthal on Wednesday criticized the airlines for requiring personal information before disclosing seat fees, saying it erodes customer trust and limits price comparisons, according to the report.

Last year, US airlines sued to block the Transportation Department's new rule on upfront fee disclosure, Reuters reported.

Frontier and Spirit did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
