07:14 AM EDT, 04/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors' ( GM ) self-driving car business Cruise is planning to resume the testing of its robotaxis with safety drivers in Phoenix as early as Tuesday, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Cruise has been in talks with officials in 20 areas where it had previously started testing and mapping, the report said.
A Cruise spokesman said that the company "had not set a timeline for deployment. We are in the process of meeting with officials in select markets to gather information, share updates and rebuild trust," according to the report.
General Motors ( GM ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Cruise had suspended nationwide operations after one of its cars hit and dragged a pedestrian in San Francisco last year.
