04:34 AM EDT, 08/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors ( GM ) and LG Energy Solution are set to restart battery-cell production at their Ultium Cells joint venture plant in northeast Ohio Monday following a seven-month shutdown, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing Ultium Vice President of Operations Tom Gallagher.
About 1,400 workers will be employed at the facility, with a majority of laid-off workers returning, according to the report.
The companies halted production in January due to weaker EV demand, Reuters reported.
GM and LG Energy didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
