04:58 AM EST, 11/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- General Motors ( GM ) has ordered several thousand of its parts manufacturers to pull their supply chains of parts from China, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing four unnamed people familiar with the matter.
The company's executives have been asking suppliers to find other options to China for their raw materials and parts, with the aim of eventually shifting their supply chains totally out of the China market, the report said, citing the people.
The automobile production giant has set a 2027 timeline for some suppliers to scrub their China supply chains, some of the people told the news outlet.
General Motors ( GM ) prefers to buy parts from North American facilities for vehicles manufactured in the region, but is open to non-US supply lines outside of China, the people told Reuters.
General Motors ( GM ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
